Contract Win
Galasys ventures into Intelligent Tourism via collaboration with Xinjiang Province Tourism in China and secures contract from Penang Hill Corporation in Malaysia
Galasys PLC (AIM:GLS), a market leading provider of integrated amusement park solutions and services to the fast growing theme park industry in Asia, is pleased to announce new contract wins in China and Malaysia with a total value of c. GBP 457,000. The contracts have been awarded by the Burqin county government of Xinjiang province as part of a collaboration with Galasys to promote intelligent tourism and Penang Hill Corporation.
INTELLIGENT TOURISM
"Intelligent Tourism" is the application of technologies such as the internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, next generation of communication networks, intelligent data mining to the tourism industry, in which physical and information resources are integrated to improve tourism services, improve the tourism experience, innovate tourism management and enhance tourism enterprises' competitiveness.
Galasys will cooperate with the Burqin County of Xinjiang to develop Intelligent Tourism and Kanas Lake will be the first beneficial site under this partnership. Kanas Lake is located in the Altai Mountains, near the very northern tip of Xinjiang province. Galasys will supply and implement ticketing platforms to most of the visitor attractions within Kanas Lake and 5 years after-sale services. Galasys and Xinjiang Tourism Association have formed a partnership where the government will endorse Galasys for other scenic sites in the future. Both parties have the common understanding to implement a regional tourism platform that would raise standards of Xinjiang's tourism and build a sustainable tourism industry for this region.
PENANG HILL IN MALAYSIA
The famous Penang Hill is one of the oldest colonial hill stations established by the British during their time in Malaysia. Founded by Sir Francis Light during his pack horse track back in the year 1788, Penang Hill's number of annual visitors increased from 600,000 in 2011 to 1.36 million in 2014 and is expected to increase with the opening of a new RM1.4 million (c. GBP 236,000) observation deck, "The Skywalk" in March 2015.
Galasys will provide several platforms including a ticketing base system, online ticketing and kiosk module to Penang Hill Corporation and 3 years of after-sale services.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Seah, Chief Executive of Galasys, said:
"The intention of Intelligent Tourism is to open up a whole new perspective in the leisure and entertainment industry in China. We are delighted therefore in securing our latest attraction site in Kanas Lake and we are confident the new concept of Intelligent Tourism will spur more opportunities for Galasys in the future.
Our solid footprint in China puts us in a great position to capitalize on the trend of integrating technology into the tourism industry. We are confident that the sealing of this partnership with the government of Xinjiang will lead to more contract wins with China in the future.
The Penang Hill Corporation contract win highlights our successful momentum in the ASEAN region as we expand and advance beyond our traditional theme park market. We remain confident in our plans for growth in Malaysia as well as the ASEAN region."
