("Amiad" or "the Company") Amiad selected as prime contractor for US$1.4m sewage treatment project in Israel Treatment of sewage at the Municipality's plant is one of the largest systems of its type in Israel 12 October 2006: Amiad, a producer and global supplier of water filters andfiltration systems for the industrial & municipal and the irrigation markets,announces that it has been selected as prime contractor for a US$1.4m contractfor the treatment of sewage for the Municipality of Raanana, a suburban areanorth-east of Tel-Aviv, Israel, with an estimated resident population of about70,000. The project, which involves the tertiary treatment of sewage at theMunicipality's treatment plant, is one of the largest systems of this type inIsrael and is Amiad's biggest single project of its kind. The project isscheduled to be delivered by the end of January 2007 and covers the installationof a complete treatment works including a filtration system based on Amiad'sautomated filters and multi-media filters, pumping station, excavation & piping,electrical & control kit, erection of plant, operations and maintenance for ayear. Using Amiad's systems, sewage water at the plant will be treated for applicationin unlimited irrigation at the rate of 5.5 million cubic meters a year. Yossi Katz, Chief Executive Officer of Amiad, said: "This contract is Amiad'sbiggest project of this kind and our systems will enable sewage to be turnedinto a valuable resource for unlimited irrigation, thereby reducing consumptionof clean water.
