SCISYS PLC ('SCISYS'), the supplier of bespoke software systems, IT-based solutions, web and mobile application development and support services to the Defence, Media & Broadcast, Space, Government and Commercial sectors, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver software and services to support Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements. The contract has a value of £4 million over the next 4 years.

The Ministry of Defence is unique in the UK because of the volume of equipment and supplies it moves outwards across EU borders as exports and which are then returned as imports. Compliance with complex regulations enforced by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs ('HMRC') is essential, and requires the submission of documentation and the correct payment of relevant duties and taxes. The Customs Compliance Management Information System (CCMIS) will enable the Department to be tax efficient and compliant with HMRC regulations and EU law, as well as meeting the requirements of international defence trade agreements including the US ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and DTCT (Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty) arrangements.

The contract scope includes the design and delivery of the CCMIS application and the provision of ongoing hosting and support services.
