NORTH MIDLAND CONSTRUCTION AND NOMENCA NAMED AS SEVERN TRENT AMP5 CONTRACTOR

National civil engineering contractor North Midland Construction plc with its mechanical and electrical subsidiary Nomenca have been appointed by Severn Trent Water as one of their Capital Delivery Framework Contractors for AMP5.

NMC Nomenca have been awarded two design and construct framework agreements which between them are worth in the region of £700m for the AMP 5 and AMP 6 periods, which span ten years. The agreements are due to start in April 2009 with Early Contractor Involvement of the design, in advance of AMP5 starting in April 2010.

The first of the two frameworks is for sewerage works in Severn Trent's Eastern Region which covers Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, and will involve the upgrade and replacement of sewers, flood alleviation schemes, pumping stations and storm water retention tanks.

The second is a non infrastructure framework for the upgrade and enhancement to water treatment plants and sewage treatment works serving 8 million customers across the Severn Trent region.

"We are delighted to have been appointed by Severn Trent as one of their capital delivery framework contractors for AMP5," said Robert Moyle, Chairman of North Midland Construction plc "It is the culmination of a complex and rigorous qualification process which has lasted over a year. It will enable us to build on the relationship that we have developed with Severn Trent over the last 30 years and follows the success that we currently enjoy as one of their AMP4 framework contractors. As part of the of the BNM Alliance, we are also delivering a highly successful c£150m enhancements programme for Severn Trent Water at Minworth Sewage Treatment Works near Birmingham."
