Cobham to upgrade and support Air Defence and Air Traffic Services for UK MoD
BOURNEMOUTH, United Kingdom - Cobham will upgrade and support key air traffic control systems and operations for the UK Ministry of Defence through to at least 2015, after being awarded three contracts totalling £12 million. The contracts include the Watchman Radar Viewing Unit and Airfield Radar Integration projects, where Cobham will continue to support existing installed equipment and the Radar Remoting & Combining project.
Under the Radar Remoting & Combining project Cobham will replace legacy systems with its RDSTrack product and provide ongoing support. Intended to be fully operational in March 2011, the new system will enable access to surveillance data from remote sites for the purpose of providing Air Traffic Control, Royal Navy Fighter Control and Range Safety Services.
"These contract awards from a major customer further endorse both our Air Traffic Management systems and our through life support programs," said Cobham Aviation Services President Stephen Fitz-Gerald. "It shows that the MoD has real confidence in our growing RDS product range."
