SCISYS PLC ('SCISYS'), the supplier of bespoke software systems, IT-based solutions, web and mobile application development and support services to the Space, Defence, Media & Broadcast, Government and Commercial sectors, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a further contract from Thales Alenia Space France for the system extension and software enhancement in the Galileo Ground Mission Segment (GMS). This contract is carried out under a programme of the European Union, funded by the EU. It has a term of two years and a total amount of approximately €5.2 million.

This current assignment continues the successful and long-standing cooperation between SCISYS and Thales Alenia Space France, the prime contractor for the GMS, as one of the key partners in the Galileo ground segment and the companies have a long history of successful cooperation in the Galileo Programme which had already started in 2005. Since then SCISYS has been responsible for the Ground Assets Control Facility (GACF) and the Galileo Network Monitoring Facility (GNMF).

The Galileo Mission Segment (GMS) is the heart of the Galileo satellite navigation system. It comprises a global network of sensor stations to monitor the signals from the satellites, a chain of Earth stations to uplink navigation data to the satellites, parallel communications networks, and a complex sequence of processing elements.
