Aggreko PLC07 January 2008 Aggreko awarded Supply Contract for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Aggreko, the global leader in the rental of power, temperature control andoil-free compressed air systems has signed a contract with the BeijingOrganizing Committee for the Games of XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) for the supply oftemporary power generation for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The value of thecontract is expected to be in the region of US$35 million. Under the contract, Aggreko will provide up to 160 MW of power across 40 Olympicvenues in 6 cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Qinhaungdao andTianjin. The power, enough to supply over 150,000 homes, will be provided bygenerators located at each venue and distributed through over 300 kms of cableand 2,000 distribution panels. Aggreko will be employing around 200 staff on thecontract, many of whom will be recruited in China, to install, maintain andoperate the equipment. In addition to supporting both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at theNational Stadium in Beijing, Aggreko equipment will also be used to powerfield-of-play lighting and camera equipment in the various stadia as well aspowering the international broadcasting centre, which manages television feedsto hundreds of broadcasters around the world.
