INTERSERVE WINS ALLIANCE ROLE IN 590m SOUTH WEST WATER K5 PROGRAMME
Interserve, the services, maintenance and building group, has been named as a Delivery Alliance Partner in South West Water's (SWW) K5 framework programme. K5 is the company's programme covering the water industry's AMP5 (Asset Management Plan 5) period and runs from April 2010 to March 2015. It is estimated that the Interserve element is likely to be in the order of 100m of the overall programme subject to the outcome of the ongoing Ofwat price review to be finalised in November this year.
Interserve is one of two "First-Tier Partner" contractors who, together with two design companies and SWW itself, form the Delivery Alliance. The Alliance will manage the detailed assessment, planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning in the K5 investment programme. The works will be predominantly waste and clean water capital maintenance and supply-and-demand-driven projects with small programmes of quality-focused investment. Projects will generally focus on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) with a civil engineering construction element.
The programme has been designed so that second-tier contractors, managed through the Alliance, will also play a significant role.
"The renewal of our long-term relationship with South West Water is excellent news," commented Adrian Ringrose, Interserve's chief executive. "This award is a significant milestone for Interserve and reconfirms our position as a leading player in the UK water sector."
