Meggitt PLC13 January 2006 For immediate release 13 January 2006 Meggitt PLC Tranche II Eurofighter contracts for Meggitt worth circa £63.2m Three wholly owned subsidiary businesses of Meggitt PLC, the internationalaerospace defence and electronics group, have won contracts on Tranche II of theEurofighter Typhoon programme: Meggitt AvionicsMeggitt Avionics has won a £34m contract to supply air data transducers (ADTs).The contract, which will run until 2012, is for over 1,000 ADT units and is thelargest single order won by Meggitt Avionics. The award follows MeggittAvionics' successful completion of Tranche I (over 600 units). The ADT is anintegral part of the quadruplex flight control system. Four ADTs are fitted toeach Eurofighter. The unit combines a mobile multi-function vane sensing pitotpressure, static pressure and local flow angle with a processing unit thattransmits data to the flight control system. Dunlop Aerospace Braking SystemsDunlop Aerospace Braking Systems received orders for Eurofighter's wheels, brakes and braking systems estimated to be worth around £25m. The new orders arefor 259 aircraft sets to be supplied to the original four partnernations-Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK-and Austria, the programme's firstexternal customer. Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems is also supplying a dualredundant Brake-By-Wire (BBW) system that provides full braking and anti-skidredundancy to ensure optimum braking performance should a system fail. Vibro-Meter UKVibro-Meter UK, a world leader in the design and manufacture of vibrationmonitoring systems for propulsion units for commercial aircraft, helicopters, military aerospace and industrial installations, received orders for enginetemperature sensors and other products for the Eurofighter valued at over £4.2m. Terry Twigger, Meggitt's Chief Executive said:"We are delighted to secure these three contracts which further cement ourposition on Tranche II of the Eurofighter programme. All three product streams are strategically important for Meggitt and we lookforward to continuing our successful relationship with this aircraft" For further information please contact: Meggitt PLC Tel: 01202 847847Terry Twigger, Group Chief ExecutiveStephen Young, Group Finance DirectorFiona Greig, Group PR Executive Buchanan Communications Tel: 020 7466 5000Charles Ryland/Jeremy Garcia Editor's notes About air data transducersEach ADT includes a sensitive vane positioned near the front of the aircraft inundisturbed airflow. During flight, motion of the air rotates the vane toprovide airflow angle data. The vane also acts as a pitot-staticprobe, sensing pitot (speed) and static (altitude) pressures. These physicalparameters (angles and pressures) are processed in the ADT and transmitted tothe flight control system. About EurofighterThe Eurofighter Typhoon is the world's most capable and dynamic swing-rolecombat aircraft. Developed by Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, the EurofighterTyphoon will fulfil air force requirements into the mid 21st century. Theaircraft is in full production and, having achieved "Type Acceptance", the firstof the 620 Eurofighter Typhoons planned for the four partner nations wasdelivered in 2003. Production contracts are awarded in stages: Tranche I for 148aircraft with over 60 delivered, with the follow on Tranche II for 236 aircraft.
