Wincanton PLC29 September 2006 For Immediate Release 29 September 2006 Wincanton plc Wincanton becomes sole provider for logistics services for Somerfield Wincanton plc ('Wincanton'), the leading European supply chain solutionsprovider is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as the preferredsupplier for a contract worth £900m over the next five years for high streetsupermarket Somerfield. In addition to the nine sites that Wincanton currently manages for them,Somerfield has confirmed its intention, under the new contract, to transfer thetransport operation at Lea Green and the warehouse operations at Cardinal andHuntingdon to Wincanton from their existing third party supplier. As a result,around 1500 employees will transfer to Wincanton under the Transfer ofUndertakings regulations (TUPE).
