Commencement of drilling

North River is pleased to announce that it has commenced drilling at its flagship Namib Lead Zinc Mine ('the Project') in Namibia to verify the overall extent of the ore beneath, and around, the historic mine and provide a better understanding of its commercial potential. This proof of concept programme follows an on-going review of structural geology of the project, by Dr Neal Reynolds, an established authority on this type of deposit. His initial report has greatly assisted the Company in understanding the nature and likely dynamics of the ore body within the host Karibib marble and has helped the Company prioritise its targeting and works programmes. Details of this review will be announced in the near future.

Three initial holes are being drilled, two of which are Reverse Circulation ('RC') holes with diamond tails under the Northern lodes, and a further RC hole on a near mine target, a gossan along strike. The Board anticipates that drilling of these holes will be completed within two weeks. This initial phase of drilling is not designed to prove up additional resources, but rather to verify the overall extent of the ore beneath, and around, the mine, and therefore provide a better understanding of its commercial prospectivity and guide potential resource drilling.

Following drilling the Company will then survey these holes with a down hole electromagnetic (EM) probe, to identify sulphide anomalies and ore at a depth of around 400m below surface. Due to the erratic nature of the ore-bodies, it is difficult to necessarily intercept ore, however the Company is hoping to gain EM signals from sulphide conductors should they be near the holes. The Company will update the market once results are known.

North River Managing Director Martin French said, "We are pleased that our work on the Namib project is moving from purely desk-top reviews to a phase of operations on the ground. We are now concurrently working on several programmes on different aspects of the Project and making good headway."
