Nyota Minerals Limited ("Nyota" or the "Company")

Commencement of Definitive Feasibility Study

The Directors of Nyota Minerals Limited ("Nyota" or "the Company") are pleased to announce the appointment of the lead engineer and other key consultants for the Definitive Feasibility Study ("DFS") for the Tulu Kapi Gold Project ("the Project") in Western Ethiopia.

SENET (Pty) Limited ("SENET") has been appointed as Lead Engineer, Golder Associates ("Golder") has been appointed to undertake the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment ("ESIA") and to design the tailings storage facility, and Wardell Armstrong International ("WAI") has been appointed to manage resource estimation and mine design/planning.

The DFS is provisionally scheduled for completion by Q3 2012 and is targeting an accuracy within +/-10%. Mine and processing plant design will be based on a standard 2 million tonne per annum ("mtpa") gold plant, a format frequently built in Africa and ideally suited to the environment anticipated in Ethiopia.

Richard Chase, Nyota CEO commented, "We are delighted to have been able to secure the services of world class consultants whom we consider to have ideal experience suited to mine development in Ethiopia. The practical approach and flexibility demonstrated by all the consultants reflects their African experience and will provide Nyota with the capacity to meet the inevitable challenges that it will face during the DFS and subsequent plant construction."

Preliminary feasibility studies indicate that the most profitable and efficient means of extracting gold will be via a combined open pit/underground mining operation to produce 100,000 to 115,000 ounces of gold per annum for an initial life of mine of 10 years.

The consultants are aware of the ongoing exploration programme that involves further expansion of the existing Tulu Kapi deposit and resource, through the drilling of extensions and the targeting of Proximal and Satellite zones identified within a 25km radius of the planned processing plant. Therefore, whilst the processing plant and associated infrastructure will be based around the current Mineral Resource of 1.46 million ounces of gold at a grade of 2.84g/t Au and designed to accommodate a 2mtpa operation, the DFS will have the scope to take into consideration the anticipated extension of mine life due to the discovery and evaluation of additional resources.

SENET (Pty) Limited

SENET is a well-established South African based engineering consultant with extensive African experience. Most recently SENET has been involved in the design and commissioning of gold processing plants that include Bisha (Nevsun 2mtpa, Eritrea), Tongon (Randgold Resources 3.6mtpa, Ivory Coast), Twangiza (Banro Group 1.3mtpa, Mauritania) and Tasiast (Red Back Mining 2.5mtpa, Mauritania).

SENET will act as Lead Engineer with overall responsibility for plant design, mine layout, equipment specification, power, infrastructure, metallurgy, Project optimisation, operating and capital cost estimation and will liaise with the other consultants appointed to coordinate and compile a DFS document.

The Nyota Board was impressed by the level of detail and practical approach to design and DFS management offered by SENET which in the Directors' opinion is a reflection of SENET's impressive portfolio of current and historic projects in Africa.

Golder Associates

Golder has been appointed to oversee the ESIA and tailings storage facility infrastructure design. Nyota has already produced an ESIA document and consequently Golder's mandate will be to produce a bankable ESIA that will meet Ethiopian requirements, International Finance Corporation Performance Standards, and an appropriate level of compliance with Equator Principles.

Golder has unique experience in Ethiopia as Golder's Project Director assisted in the development of the Ethiopian EIA regulations and provided ESIA training for the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Agency and other sectorial agencies in the country. Golder is also fully conversant with IFC Performance Standards having worked on many other IFC projects.

 Wardell Armstrong International

WAI has been appointed to manage resource estimation and mine design/scheduling. WAI has been engaged in feasibility work with Nyota during 2011 and has been responsible for preliminary mine design, resource estimation and geological modelling. WAI was an obvious choice for mine design and scheduling as the Company was responsible for the completion of the only mining feasibility study completed to date in Ethiopia at the Lege Dembi mine. Nyota technical personnel have had a productive working relationship with WAI with whom they have interacted for the past nine months.

The Company's presentation has been updated to reflect this announcement. This is to be made available to view on the Company's website at www.nyotaminerals.com and can be accessed at the following link:
