Pfizer Provides Easier, Broader Access to Clinical Trial Information Now On Web: Results From 314 Clinical Studies On 35 Medicines, Enrollment Information For 265 On-Going Studies NEW YORK, Oct. 3 -- Pfizer Inc said today it has posted information on more than 500 company-sponsored clinical trials on two easy-to-access web sites. Results from 314 studies involving 35 Pfizer medicines are posted on the Clinical Study Results Database at www.clinicalstudyresults.org. The Clinical Study Results Database was created by the pharmaceutical trade group PhRMA as part of an industry-wide effort to expand access to clinical trial data. Moving forward, Pfizer will continue to post data from the company's late-stage clinical studies for marketed medicines. Patients interested in participating in an on-going Pfizer clinical trial will find registration information at the National Institute of Health's web site at www.clinicaltrials.gov. Currently, 265 on-going Pfizer studies are posted there. Pfizer regularly updates the site when new studies begin enrollment. "Pfizer is committed to broader clinical study disclosure for the long-term," said Dr. Michael Berelowitz, Pfizer senior vice president, worldwide medical and outcomes research. "Pfizer has been working with the World Health Organization's Institute of Medicine and with academic and industry organizations as they develop standards for registration and posting of results. Our shared goal is to post these vast amounts of study data in ways that are meaningful and useful to people." Information contained in the Clinical Study Results Database includes summary results of late-stage efficacy and safety studies completed after October 2002 involving Pfizer medicines marketed in the United States. The postings also include a list of all publications and abstracts on each study, product information such as a medicine's prescribing information, and a summary of study results. All summaries appear in an internationally recognized format and include drug name, study objective, methods, and efficacy and safety results. For studies awaiting publication, the posting will note that an update will appear when publication occurs. Those seeking information on new and on-going clinical studies at www.clinicaltrials.gov will find information on all late-stage Pfizer efficacy and safety studies that began after July 1, 2005.
