Circle selected preferred bidder for Greenwich MSK service
Circle Holdings Limited ("Circle") (LSE: CIRC), the employee co-owned hospital group, has been named as the preferred bidder by the Greenwich CCG to provide integrated musculoskeletal (MSK) services in Greenwich.
Under the proposed five-year arrangement, which is subject to contract, Circle will be responsible for managing MSK services for 276,000 Greenwich residents. The contract is valued at approximately £73.7 million and is expected to deliver an estimated savings of £12 million for the CCG over the initial five-year term, which is renewable for up to two additional years.
Finalisation of the contractual terms will take place over the coming weeks with service commencement expected in Q4 2016.
Steve Melton, Chief Executive Officer of Circle, commented: "Circle's selection validates our record of managing integrated MSK services, which we successfully pioneered in Bedfordshire.
Our approach in Greenwich will see Circle introduce the same kind of innovation and reform that have enabled us to ensure more appropriate and timely clinical care for Bedford patients.
Circle looks forward to working closely with the CCG and local providers to ensure the delivery of an integrated, high quality MSK service for Greenwich patients."
Annabel Burn, Chief Officer of Greenwich CCG, said: "Greenwich CCG has been seeking to improve the quality of MSK services for people in Greenwich for some years now. The new system offers local patients with MSK medical conditions an integrated assessment service and more streamlined service.
It also preserves patients' choice and promises to deliver more efficient use of resources."
