Change to Committee Chairman

IMPERIAL TOBACCO - COMMITTEE UPDATE

Imperial Tobacco Group PLC today announces that as part of its Board and Committee succession plans the Board yesterday agreed that Michael Herlihy will succeed Pierre Jungels as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee with effect from the conclusion of today's Annual General Meeting. Pierre will remain Senior Independent Director and a member of the Remuneration, Audit and Nomination Committees.

Michael Herlihy joined the Imperial Tobacco Board in July 2007 and is a member of the Remuneration, Audit and Nomination Committees.
