African Minerals Ltd09 October 2007 For immediate release 9 October 2007 African Minerals Limited ("African Minerals" or "the Company") Change of Directors African Minerals Limited (AIM:AMI), the mineral and diamond exploration andproduction company with interests focused in Sierra Leone, West Africa, ispleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Bruce Kirk as an Executive Directorand President of Iron Ore and Base Metals, effective 9 October 2007. Mr. Kirk'sappointment further strengthens the Company's senior management team andadvances the Company's strategy of becoming a diversified minerals producer inAfrica. Mr. Kirk, aged 55, is highly qualified with a Bachelor of Science Honours degreein geology, a Master of Applied Science degree in geology from the University ofNew South Wales and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Queensland,in Australia. He has over 30 years of international exploration and miningexperience in several countries including Australia, India, Papua New Guinea,Fiji, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Canada. Bruce has worked in several seniorexploration, project evaluation and mine geology roles in a wide range ofcommodities including iron ore, base metals and gold, together with a provenmineral exploration track record including the discovery of the Peak gold minein New South Wales, Australia for the Rio Tinto group. For the last 11 years,Bruce has worked for the BHP Billiton Group in senior exploration and commercialroles including as Regional Exploration Manager in India, Chief Geologist andProject Manager roles in Latin America; Commercial Manager in Canada and mostrecently as global Exploration Risk Manager facilitating the entry of BHPBilliton's mineral exploration team into high risk countries in Africa andelsewhere. Before joining BHP Billiton, Bruce worked in the Rio Tinto group for14 years including chief geologist and project management roles in iron ore inWestern Australia, base metals and gold in both New South Wales and Papua NewGuinea. He is a Fellow and Chartered Professional of the Australasian Instituteof Mining and Metallurgy. The Company also announces the following changes to the Board. Mr DavidGadd-Claxton has relinquished his role as Chief Executive Officer and has beenappointed President of Diamond Exploration and Production. Mr. Gordon Stein willbe stepping down from the Board effective 9 October 2007. The Company intends tostrengthen its Board with further key Non-Executive appointments.
