It is with very deep regret that the Board of Biffa plc ("Biffa") has learnt of the sudden death of Steve Marshall. Steve had been Chairman of Biffa since June 2013.

David Martin, Senior Independent Director, will assume the role of Chairman on an interim basis until a new chairman is appointed.

Ian Wakelin, commented:

"We are deeply saddened at the news of Steve's death. Steve played a guiding role in the recent development of the business, not least in our successful IPO. He will be very much missed and, on behalf of everyone at Biffa, I send heartfelt condolences to his family."
