Robin Brundle appointed as Trustee of Faraday Institution
Brundle joins Board of Trustees of globally renowned electrochemical energy storage research institution
Technology Minerals Plc (LSE: TM1), the UK's pioneering firm in establishing a circular economy for battery metals, is pleased to announce that its Chairman, Robin Brundle, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Faraday Institution, the UK's independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skills development, market analysis, and early-stage commercialisation. Robin is among three members to have joined the Faraday Institution's Board of Trustees, further strengthening the board's strategic, industrial and research experience.
As Executive Chairman of Technology Minerals Plc and Co-Founder and Director of Recyclus Group, which operates the UK's first industrial scale lithium-ion battery ("LIBs") recycling facility, Robin is an accomplished business leader and has been instrumental in establishing a sustainable cradle-to-cradle circular economy for the recycling of LIBs. Robin is also a trusted contributor to government policy on battery and critical mineral strategies via parliamentary committees in both the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
This wealth of experience across the energy storage sector, as well as track record of shaping innovation and sustainability in battery recycling and motorsport industries, strongly aligns Robin with the institution's ambition of building a board of seasoned professionals dedicated to advancing research excellence.
The Faraday Institution is the UK's flagship battery research programme, dedicated to bringing together expertise from universities and industry, with the end goal of making the UK the go-to destination for research into and development of novel electrical storage technologies for the automotive sector and beyond. Its mission is to reduce battery cost, weight and volume, improve performance and reliability, and develop whole-life strategies including recycling and reuse. The programme is defined by industry need and delivered by a consortium of 27 UK universities and 50 businesses.
Robin Brundle, Chairman of Technology Minerals and Director of Recyclus, said: "I am honoured to have been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Faraday Institution, a hugely prestigious organisation that shares Technology Mineral's aim of making the UK the global catalyst towards the development of a cradle-to-cradle circular economy for battery metals. I look forward to collaborating with the Faraday Institution's Board to optimise its current and future programmes in battery technologies."
