Capita approved for NHS England's £3-5bn Lead Provider Framework for Commissioning Support Services Capita plc (`Capita') announced today that it has been approved by NHS Englandto join the new Lead Provider Framework for Commissioning Support Services.Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be required to re-procure many oftheir support services by April 2016 in order to comply with EU procurementlaw, which NHS England anticipates will mean that between £3-5bn of serviceswill be procured through the framework. NHS England has put in place free procurement and legal support to reduce theburden on CCGs so that this process is as quick and simple as possible. Itexpects that the typical procurement process will only take three months toaward each contract. Capita and its supply chain partners, alongside only two other private sectorconsortia and nine NHS Commissioning Support Units and their partners, havebeen approved for the framework following a rigorous selection process. Capitahas been approved for the core Lot 1, `End-to-End Commissioning SupportServices', and for Lot 2A, `Specialist Decision Support Services - MedicinesManagement and Optimisation'. Lot 1 comprises a wide range of support services, such as back office financeand HR, GP IT services, contracting, engagement and business intelligence. Lot2A includes services for commissioners to support medicines procurement, theimplementation of new national guidance and analysis of data to identifyefficiencies in medicine use.
