Bond Repurchase

Vedanta Resources PLC ( "Vedanta" ) hereby announces that Monte Cello Corporation N.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Vedanta, has acquired US$ 85,000,000 in nominal value of the US$ 600,000,000 6.625 per cent Bonds due 2010 issued by Vedanta (the "Bonds" ), representing approximately 14.17 per cent. of the aggregate nominal value of the Bonds in issue immediately prior to such purchase.

Vedanta or its subsidiaries may make further purchases of the Bonds in the future.
