LightwaveRF Boiler Energy Monitor Patent

LightwaveRF plc ("LightwaveRF" or the "Company"), the creator of the LightwaveRF Smart Home Platform and products for the Internet of Things enabling households and businesses to remotely operate and control household applications including lighting, power, heating and security using smartphones, tablets, PC and MAC applications, today announces it has filed an application in relation to a device which allows the monitoring of the energy consumption of domestic combi boilers .

The device can be retro fitted to existing boilers and will monitor in real time the energy consumption of most combi boilers. The system will also report on the number of hours the boiler has run and allow for better maintenance scheduling. In combination with other energy saving devices in the LightwaveRF Platform the system will show realtime savings achieved by the complete LightwaveRF Smart Home eco system.

Commenting John Shermer the LightwaverRF Chief Technical Officer said "Consumers will be able to monitor their gas consumption on an ongoing basis rather than be surprised by large gas bills at the end the month. This will allow then to make decisions daily about how to heat their home. In combination with our remote LightwaveRF boiler switching and our room by room temperature control consumers can heat only rooms they need to save energy."

The new boiler monitor can be retrofitted to existing boilers without the need for any modification. The monitor will then connect wirelessly to the LightwaveRF Cloud to report energy usage. The LightwaveRF Cloud already collects data on Radiator TRV usage, thermostat and boiler switch settings as well as electric panel heating usage. The data collected will allow feedback to consumers and businesses alike on usage habits and energy wastage.
