Bodycote International PLC24 October 2007 24 October 2007 Bodycote International Plc Board Changes Bodycote International plc, the specialist thermal processing and testingservices company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Thomson as anon-executive director and Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 December 2007.Alan Thomson, who was previously Group Finance Director of Smiths Group, willtake up the position of Chairman of Bodycote at the conclusion of the nextannual general meeting on 30 April 2008 in place of James Wallace who hasalready stated his intention to step down from the board. Alan is also a non-executive director of Johnson Matthey plc (Chairman of theAudit Committee), Cross Match Technologies Inc. (Senior Independent Director)and Alstom SA (non-executive director, supervisory board) and served as anon-executive director at Laporte plc from 1996 to 2001. Alan, aged 61, began his career at Arthur Andersen and qualified as a charteredaccountant before moving to Price Waterhouse as an audit manager. He spent 7years in France and the US with Rockwell International as finance director ofthe electronics division before returning to the UK to serve as finance directorfor their automotive components business. In 1982, he joined Raychem as financedirector of their materials science business, following which he joinedCourtaulds in 1984 as financial controller of Courtaulds Textiles andsubsequently was appointed finance director for Courtaulds Coatings. In 1992 he became Finance Director at the Rugby Group plc before being appointedGroup Finance Director of Smiths Group plc from 1995 until he retired in 2006.Alan Thomson also serves on the council of the Institute of CharteredAccountants of Scotland where he is chairman of the Technical Policy Board Commenting on the appointment, Chief Executive, John Hubbard, said; "I am delighted to welcome Alan Thomson to the Bodycote Board. He will bring awealth of sector, financial and investor relations experience to the Board'sdeliberations." Mr Thomson has confirmed that there is no further information to be disclosed inaccordance with Listing Rule 9.16.13.
