Board Changes
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, the international hotel group, announces changes to its independent non-executive directors as part of a process designed to refresh the Board.
Viscount Thurso and Charles Kirkwood, who have both been independent non-executive directors for the past seven years, will stand down from the Board at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 6 May 2009. The Board is considering candidates for new non-executive directors and announcements will be made in due course.
Christopher Sneath, Chairman of the Audit Committee, who has been an independent non-executive director since 1999 has also indicated that he plans to step down. The Board plans to recruit a replacement for Mr Sneath to undertake the duties of chair of the Audit Committee. Mr Sneath will remain on the Board until the new candidate has been appointed and an appropriate handover has taken place.
Kwek Leng Beng, Chairman, commenting on the Board changes said:
"I would like to thank John and Charlie for the support and contribution they have made to the Board over many years. We have greatly benefited from their wide experience. We wish them both well for the future."
