Board Change
Micro Focus International plc ("Micro Focus"; LSE MCRO.L), announces the departure of Paul Pester as a Non-Executive Director, and the appointment of Tom Virden as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect,
After four years as a director of Micro Focus, Paul Pester advised the Company of his intention to step down from the Board as soon as a strong successor could be found and appointed. With the appointment of Thomas Virden, Dr Pester, who is CEO of Verde, the new bank being set up by Lloyds, will step down from his Non-Executive responsibilities with immediate effect.
Tom Virden began his career at Apple Inc, and over a period of ten years held a range of leadership roles in market development and product marketing, including the leadership of the company's initiatives in the Small Business and the Music industries.
More recently, Virden spent six years at lastminute.com as International Business Development Director with responsibility for international strategy for the company and launching subsidiaries and fully localised sites in France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Australia and Ireland. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Marketing at Digidesign, a California company that brought digital multitrack recording and editing to personal computers. Virden has also started and led a number of technology companies including Katz Media SARL, Virtual European Office (VEO), and most recently, Boatbookings.com, the world's largest online yacht charter site, with 8,000 yachts worldwide.
Mr Virden holds a Bachelor of Arts, Double Major in Psychology and Economics from Stanford University in the US. He is a dual US and British citizen residing in France.
Commenting on this directorate change, Kevin Loosemore, Executive Chairman, said:

Mr Virden, age 54, holds two other Board positions. He has been a Non-Executive Director at Atari Inc since April 2010 (where he chairs the Compensation committee) and serves on the Board of SweetBeam, a start-up company that is improving in-room hotel promotions and services.
There are no other details to be disclosed in respect of the requirements of paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the UK Financial Services Authority.
