BOARD APPOINTMENT

Debenhams plc, the leading UK department stores group, announces that it has today appointed Mark Rolfe as a non-executive director. Mr. Rolfe will serve on the board's audit, nomination and remuneration committees.

About Mark Rolfe

Mark Rolfe (51) is a chartered accountant. He is currently a non-executive director of Barratt Developments Plc, Hornby Plc and The Sage Group plc and is chairman of Lane, Clark and Peacock LLP. Mr. Rolfe spent 20 years with Gallaher Group Plc in various finance and executive roles, latterly in the role of Finance Director for seven years until the company was acquired in 2007.
