African Minerals Ltd09 April 2008 For immediate release 9 April 2008 African Minerals Limited ("African Minerals" or "the Company") Appointment of Lord Truscott as Non-Executive Director African Minerals Limited (AIM:AMI), the mineral exploration company withsignificant interests in Sierra Leone, West Africa, is pleased to announce theappointment of Lord Peter Derek Truscott as a Non-Executive Director, effective8 April 2008. Lord Truscott of St James's, aged 49, is a Labour peer. He is a member of theHouse of Lords European Union Committee, Sub Committee C (Foreign Affairs,Defence and Development Policy) and a former departmental liaison peer to theMinistry of Defence. Between 2006 and 2007 Lord Truscott was ParliamentaryUnder-Secretary of State for Energy at the Department of Trade and Industry andthe DTI Government Spokesperson in the House of Lords. He representedHertfordshire in the European Parliament from1994 to1999, and was Labour'sForeign Affairs and Defence spokesperson, a member of the Foreign AffairsCommittee and Vice-President of the Security Sub Committee. Following his doctorate from Oxford University, he has written extensively onforeign and security policy. He was visiting Research Fellow with the Institutefor Public Policy Research from 1999 to 2000 and was recently an AssociateFellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies.Lord Truscott has regularly appeared as a political analyst on the BBC, CNN andSky TV. The Company also announces that Mr. Mike Wittet, Non-Executive Director hasresigned from the board of directors of the Company with effect from 8 April2008. Commenting on the Board changes, Frank Timis, Executive Chairman of AfricanMinerals said: "Peter's appointment further strengthens the Board as the Company acceleratesits strategy to become a diversified minerals producer. Peter brings to AfricanMinerals a wealth of political experience, particularly his track record inforeign affairs and the energy arena.
