Max Petroleum PLC27 March 2006 MAX PETROLEUM PLC (AIM: MXP) APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Max Petroleum Plc ("Max Petroleum" or "the Company"), an oil and gas explorationand development company with an initial focus on Kazakhstan, is pleased toannounce the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director. This follows today'searlier announcement on the creation of an Advisory Board. Robert B. Holland III has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of MaxPetroleum which will take effect from April 27 2006 when he finishes his currentposition. Mr. Holland is currently with the Bush Administration and still servesas U.S. Executive Director to the World Bank. He also worked for Triton EnergyLimited, the NYSE listed oil and gas exploration company prior to its sale toAmerada Hess, from 1993 to 1999 in the roles of General Counsel, Chief OperatingOfficer and finally Chief Executive Officer. From 1977 to 1994 he practiced lawwith the Texas law firm, Jackson Walker L.L.P., and is a graduate of StanfordUniversity and the University of Texas Law School.
