D1 Oils Plc27 September 2006 27th September 2006 Lord Oxburgh Appointed Non-Executive Director and to become Chairman in 2007 D1 Oils plc (D1), the UK-based global producer of biodiesel, is pleased toannounce the appointment of Lord Oxburgh as a Non-Executive Director of theCompany with the intention that he becomes Chairman in early 2007. When LordOxburgh succeeds to the Chairmanship, the present Chairman,Karl E. Watkin, will remain as a Non-Executive Director of the Company. Lord Oxburgh is a long-standing public advocate of the need to address climatechange issues. He served as the Non-Executive Chairman of Shell Transport andTrading plc from 2004 to 2005, during which time he took a close interest in thecompany's environmental technologies. Since then, Lord Oxburgh has been anadviser to Climate Change Capital, a specialist investment banking group focusedon companies and financial institutions affected by the policy and capitalmarket responses to climate change. He is both a renowned scientist and an active parliamentarian. He is currentlyinvolved with a number of all-party parliamentary groups. He is Vice-Chairman ofthe Globe UK Group and Treasurer of the Earth Sciences Group. He also chairedthe Science and Technology Select Committee from 2001 to 2004. Lord Oxburgh spent eight years as Rector of Imperial College of Science,Technology and Medicine from 1993 to 2001. He is a former Chief ScientificAdviser to the Ministry of Defence. Lord Oxburgh was Professor of Mineralogy andPetrology at Cambridge University from 1978 to 1991. Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Karl E. Watkin said: We are delighted that someone of the calibre of Lord Oxburgh has decided to joinour Board with a view to taking over from me as Chairman. It is a greatcompliment to the D1 team that we have attracted such a distinguished scientist,businessman and advocate of action on climate change.
