Afren PLC25 July 2005 Afren PLC Appointment of Non-Executive Chairman Afren PLC ("Afren"), an independent oil and gas company focused on establishingitself as the leading pan-African exploration and production company, whichlisted on AIM in March 2005, announces the appointment of a Non-ExecutiveChairman. Charles Jamieson has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman with immediateeffect. Mr Jamieson retired as Chief Executive Officer of Premier Oil on 24thMarch 2005, after 25 years with the Company. He began his career with Ernst andYoung and Gulf Oil Corporation. Mr Guy Pas, the acting Non-Executive Chairman, will continue as a Non-ExecutiveDirector of Afren. Brian O'Cathain, Chief Executive of Afren, commented: "We are delighted that Charles has agreed to become our Chairman.
