Friends Provident plc Board Appointment
Friends Provident plc, the FTSE 100 life and pensions group, has agreed to appoint David Rough, 57, to the Board as an independent non-executive director subject to regulatory approval by the Financial Services Authority.
David Rough currently sits on two Boards:
senior independent director and chairman of Audit Committee at Land Securities plc
deputy chairman and chairman of Nominations Committee at Xstrata plc
After completing his first class degree in Chemistry he spent 17 years at Royal Insurance where he ran the Investment Management Division. He joined Legal & General Investment Management in 1989 as Head of UK Equities. Two years later he was promoted to Group Director Investments and joined the main Board of Legal & General Group plc. He took early retirement from Legal & General after 12 years with the company.
David's previous Board appointments include Brown Shipley Co. Ltd, BBA Aviation plc, Mithras Investment Trust and EMAP plc.
