Board Appointment

Home Retail Group plc, the UK's leading home and general merchandise retailer, announces that Mike Darcey has joined its Board as a non-executive director with effect from 20th April 2010.

Mike Darcey is the Chief Operating Officer of British Sky Broadcasting and will take on this non-executive role in addition to his existing executive role.

Oliver Stocken, Chairman of Home Retail Group, said "I am delighted to welcome Mike to Home Retail Group. His extensive experience with BSkyB over the last 12 years allied to a broad strategic background means he will be a strong addition to our Board".

In accordance with the Listing Rules, Home Retail Group confirms that there are no matters relating to Mike Darcey that would require disclosure under LR 9.6.13R (2) to LR.9.6.13R (6).

Mike Darcey has worked for BSkyB since 1998, as Head of Strategic Planning; Group Director of Strategy and, since 2006, as Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to that he worked for Lexecon; Putnam Hayes and Bartlett and KPMG. In his earlier career he was an Economic Advisor to various companies. He sits on the boards of two Joint Ventures: National Geographic Channel (outside the US) and Nickelodeon.

Mike has BSc's in Mathematics and Statistics and Operations Research from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He also has an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
