Board Announcement
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc announces today that Richard Hartman (64) will retire as Group Chief Executive Officer by the end of 2010. He will, however, remain on the Millennium & Copthorne Board thereafter as a non-executive director and as a senior adviser.
Chairman of Millennium and Copthorne, Mr. Kwek Leng Beng said, "Richard Hartman joined M&C in April 2008. He has since strengthened the management and steered the Company through one of the worst economic crises in recent history. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the global hospitality business has made a major contribution to our strategic thinking and placed us in a strong competitive position. I am very pleased that he will remain on the Board as our senior adviser after he retires as Group CEO."
Richard Hartman commented, "When I joined M&C, I said I would stay until I had strengthened the foundations for future development of the business - a job that is now coming to completion. The next step is to find someone, of strong leadership qualities, to execute our strategy over the medium to long term. I look forward to working with the future CEO of the Group."
The Group has begun a search for Mr. Hartman's successor.
