blinkx To Serve Ads Packaged with ITN Video Content for Iliffe News & Media Online and The Daily Mash Website
blinkx VOD Offering Adds Top Regional Newspapers and Popular Satirical Website to Customer Roster
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 12th, 2010 - blinkx, the world's largest video search engine, today announced that, under the terms of its partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies, blinkx-powered advertising will now appear on Iliffe News & Media and The Daily Mash websites. Iliffe News & Media comprises four regional newspaper publishing companies, including The Cambridge News, The Hertfordshire Mercury, and the Burton Mail; and The Daily Mash is a popular satirical website.
Under the terms of the agreement, advertisements served by blinkx are packaged around video content from ITN. blinkx has powered advertising across ITN and its syndication partner sites since July 2008, and these new partnerships extend its reach, which already includes Mail Online, Midland News Association and Express Group websites.
"The combination of ITN's premium content with blinkx's award-winning advertising platform and next generation HD player offers an unparalleled opportunity for advertisers," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. "We can deliver premium content, strategic distribution and cutting edge ad serving technology in a single, streamlined offering that guarantees both brand visibility and brand safety."
blinkx's unrivalled contextual advertising platform for online video, blinkx AdHoc, is unique because it was built from the ground up to address rich media, resulting in more effective marketing for advertisers, higher monetization for content owners, and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for users.
"Our Premium News Network is an excellent vehicle for brands to serve ads on popular national and regional websites alongside a broad range of video content, including UK, showbiz, sports and business news," said Mark Browning, Managing Director, ITN Productions. "For ad planners, it streamlines campaign planning because using blinkx VOD means there is a single contact for ad sales, content and technology. For publishers, ITN Productions is a simple way to add high quality video journalism to their web presence, a more visually engaging website for users, and ultimately a new revenue stream at little cost."
As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 720 partners and 35 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favourite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.
