Benkala Operational Update
Frontier Mining (AIM:FML), the AIM listed exploration, development and production company focused on Kazakhstan, announces an operational update for its flagship Benkala Copper Project.
Frontier has recently hired Adam Moroney, an independent degree-qualified consultant with 20 years of SX/EW management and heap leach research experience, on a rolling contract. In particular, Mr Moroney has four heap leach and agglomeration patents to his name.
Following more than four weeks analysis of stacking operations at Benkala, Mr Moroney has advised management that it would be advisable to incrementally increase the current leach pad stacking height of 2.5 meters to 3.5 meters. Accordingly, the leach pad stacking height of Pad 3 is currently being increased to 3.5 meters. Operational staff at Benkala started pouring sulphuric acid to Pad 3 and will be monitoring the percolation process as this has the potential to increase the amount of copper extraction from the ore without a significant effect on the overall cost of production.
Furthermore, the Company has also secured contracts for sulphuric acid delivery at less than 75% of the pricing levels contracted in the previous 12 months, which will also reduce the overall production costs at Benkala.
