Baomahun Drilling Update

11th Jan 2007 07:01

Cluff Gold PLC11 January 2007 Cluff Gold plc ("Cluff Gold" or the "Company") High Grade Intersections at Baomahun Gold Project, Sierra Leone Key highlights • Initial drill results intersect high grade gold • 2007 drilling programme has commenced at Baomahun Project - total of 30,000 metres planned for the season • Western Zone strike extent increased by 100 metres to the north • Second diamond drill rig expected at site in February 2007 • Metallurgical test work underway Cluff Gold today announces the first set of results from the current drillingprogramme at the Baomahun Gold Project ("Baomahun") in Sierra Leone. A programmefor a total of 30,000 metres of core drilling is planned during 2007. Assay results from the first three completed core holes have confirmed the alongstrike and down dip extension of the Western Zone. Drill hole DDH066 intersected7 metres at 5.76 g/t gold ("Au") from 96 metres down the hole depth. Theintersection includes 1 metre at 26.5 g/t Au. This hole is located 100 metresnorth of the last drilled section on the Western Zone. Drill hole DDH064intersected 8 metres at 7.67 g/t Au from 139 metres down the hole depth. Theintersection includes 3 metres at 16.0 g/t Au. Drill hole DDH065 intersected 8metres at 1.38 g/t Au from 80 metres down the hole depth. These last two holesare infill holes. The current JORC resource for Baomahun stands at 880,000 oz Au, but the resultsfrom these three holes clearly indicate upside potential for the resourceinventory given that drilling to date has covered less than 25% of the 12kilometres mineralised corridor. The objectives of the 2007 drilling programme are: 1) to infill drill the known mineralised Zones in order to upgrade the resources to indicated and measured categories; 2) to drill along strike and down dip to further increase the resource base; and 3) to investigate new prospects outlined by geochemistry and trenching. The second diamond drill rig is expected to arrive in February to expedite theprogramme. In addition to the current drilling programme, samples have beensubmitted to SGS Lakefield in South Africa for metallurgical test work andresults are expected in the first quarter of 2007. Mr. Douglas Chikohora, Technical Director of Cluff Gold plc, comments, "We aredelighted with these initial results which serve to substantiate our belief thatthe resource at Baomahun has real potential for further expansion, hence theextensive drilling programme planned for 2007. Progress will be significantlyaccelerated with the planned mobilisation of a second rig in February and we arenow well placed to take Baomahun to the pre-feasibility stage during the secondhalf of this year."
