Works Media Group (The) PLC24 January 2008 Works Media Group plc ("The Works" or the "Company") Academy Award and BAFTA Nominations The Works Media Group plc, the AIM-listed independent film distributor, ispleased to announce today that 'Mongol', a film for which it has secured the UKdistribution rights, was on Tuesday this week nominated for an Academy Award for'Best Foreign Language Film'. The first Kazakhstani film to be nominated for an 'Oscar', 'Mongol' is abeautifully filmed historical epic exploring the early life of Genghis Kahn.Directed by the Russian director Sergei Bodrov and filmed on location in thesteppes of Kazakhstan, the film will be released into UK cinemas in June 2008. Similarly, recognition of another of The Work's titles came last week from TheBritish Academy of Film and Television Arts (the 'Baftas'). Andrew Piddington,the director of 'The Killing of John Lennon', which was released to UK cinemaslate last year by The Works, has been nominated to receive an award for 'SpecialAchievement by a British Director, Writer or Producer in their First FeatureFilm'.
