DQE's Chairman and Chief Executive Tapaas Chakravarti
nominated at Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of The Year Award's 2009
DQE, the animation, gaming and live action entertainment production and distribution company, is pleased to announce that following over 310 nominations Tapaas Chakravarti, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of DQ Entertainment International Ltd., was selected as one of the 16 finalists at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2009 Awards held on 16th February 2010 at Taj Landsend.
This year's ceremony was the eleventh annual event since the Awards launch in 1999. The Awards have become a measure of entrepreneurial success around the world and are underscored by a rigorous selection process, comprising of financial and qualitative analysis of all nominees, independently conducted and selected by an independent panel of judges.
Since inception, over 75 outstanding Indian entrepreneurs have been recognised for their leadership in building successful global businesses. Past recipients of the Entrepreneur of The Year Award in India have included Kumar Mangalam Birla (Aditya Birla Group), Sunil Bharti Mittal (Bharti Enterprises), Ratan Naval Tata (Tata Group), N. R. Narayana Murthy (Infosys), Brijmohan Lall Munjal (Hero Group) and Mukesh D. Ambani (Reliance).
This year's jury was chaired by M. Damodaran, former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Other jury members included the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry's Director General, Amit Mitra; HSBC India Group Manager & Country Head, Naina Lal Kidwai; Accel Partners' Managing Partner, Neeraj Bhardwaj; The Oberoi Group's Chairman & Chief Executive, P R S Oberoi, and Ashok Leyland Managing Director, R Seshasayee.

Tapaas Chakravarti has over two decades of International Corporate Management experience and has grown DQ Entertainment Group to become India's largest animation company, currently employing over 2788 individuals. Tapaas believes in creating businesses in which both team work and individual excellence are celebrated, and is a rigourous promoter of ethical business practices. Tapaas is a Member of several national and international charitable organisations that work with orphans, AIDS effected children and education for the deprived. He is also an active member on the Board of the Indo-British Partnership and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
