Atkins (WS) PLC20 December 2005 NEWS RELEASE 1416PH 20 December 2005 Atkins wins major £150m highways partnership Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) has awarded a major highways servicescontract to WS Atkins plc (Atkins). The five year contract (extendable to 10 years) has an annual value of at least£30m to Atkins, and comprises the integration of professional highway managementservices with the operation and maintenance of the county road network inGloucestershire. Atkins has been the preferred bidder for the contract under the county'sprocurement procedure since October and the award decision now allowsmobilisation to commence. The contract will start on 1 April 2006. The commission is a major boost to Atkins' business and extends its portfolio ofintegrated local authority transport contracts where it already operates two ofthe three existing contracts of this type in Somerset and Northamptonshire.
