Sirius Minerals Plc
Approvals update
The Directors of Sirius Minerals Plc (AIM: SXX, OTCQX: SRUXY) ("Sirius" or the "Company") provide an update on the planning application process for the York Potash Project ("the Project").
Certain clarifications on aspects of the Company's planning applications are being provided this week to the local planning authorities. In addition the Company will submit some supplementary information to update the environmental statement and some amendments to the Transport Assessment.
The provision of clarifications and additional information is not uncommon in planning determinations for large, multi-faceted projects. The Company's consultants advise that the information that will be provided is unlikely to change the conclusions of the environmental statement, although work to confirm this is ongoing.
The local planning authorities have not yet been in a position to set dates for the determination of the applications. The authorities will re-consult on the supplementary information when it is received in January. Based on previous experience a formal re-consultation period typically lasts for 21 days, although the precise details and timings have not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
Chris Fraser, Managing Director and CEO of Sirius, commented:
"In a large scale application like this, the provision of clarifications or additional information is an important and normal part of the process.
"We believe this should result in a relatively small addition to the decision timeframes but the onus is on us to provide information to the authorities as quickly as possible."
