Max Petroleum PLC27 March 2006 MAX PETROLEUM PLC (AIM: MXP) APPOINTMENTS AND MANAGEMENT RESTRUCTURE Max Petroleum Plc ("Max Petroleum" or "the Company"), an oil and gas explorationand development company with an initial focus on Kazakhstan, is pleased toannounce the creation of an Advisory Board and a Board and Managementrestructuring. The Company also plans to provide an operations update in duecourse. Creation of Advisory Board Max Petroleum announces the formation of its Advisory Board and the appointmentof the Advisory Board's Chairman, James C. Langdon Jr. Mr. Langdon and Mr.Fuller are the first appointees of what will be a three person Advisory Boarddesigned to provide financial, operational and technical oversight to theCompany. Mr. Langdon is one of three Senior Executive Partners of Akin, Gump, Strauss,Hauer & Feld, L.L.P., one of the leading international law firms with a focus onthe energy industry. He is the senior member of the firm's energy practice and amember of the firm's strategic planning and management committees. In this rolehe represents multinational oil and gas companies and various energy-producingnations, plus has extensive experience in the former Soviet Union, includingCentral Asia. Mr. Langdon is regularly involved in energy related issues before the UnitedStates Congress and served on President George W. Bush's Foreign IntelligenceAdvisory Board. Early in his career, Mr. Langdon served in a variety ofpositions in the U.S. federal government, including the Cost of Living Council,the Department of Energy and the Department of the Treasury. Mr. Langdonreceived his B.B.A. in 1967 and his J.D. in 1970 from the University of Texas.He is a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bars. Tom Fuller, will also join the Advisory Board and resign from the Max Petroleumboard as a Non Executive Director with immediate effect. Mr. Fuller is a registered Professional Engineer and a founding Partner inDiverse Energy Management Company since 1988. Diverse is a private upstream USAexploration and production company that makes equity investments predominatelyin energy related businesses. Mr. Fuller was previously a Director of Hillin Oilcompany, and Senior Vice President and Energy Group Manager of First City Bank,Dallas and Houston. He commenced his career with Exxon as a petroleum engineerafter graduating in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming. Board and Management Restructuring Max Petroleum announces the following Board and Management restructuring: • The appointment of Steve Kappelle as Chief Executive Officer, based in London • Jim Jeffs will move to the role of Executive Chairman • Ole Udsen will become Chief Operating Officer, based at Max Petroleum's offices in Almaty, Kazakhstan Jim Jeffs, Chairman, commented: "I am delighted to be able to announce these high profile appointees to MaxPetroleum's Main and Advisory Boards.
