Appointment of Technical Director

The Board of Strategic Natural Resources ("SNR") (AIM:SNRP) is pleased to announce that Mr Albertus Steenkamp (Bertus) has joined SNR as the Company's Technical Director with immediate effect. Mr Steenkamp will also be joining the Board of SNR in a non-executive capacity.

Mr Steenkamp has extensive experience in coal mining. He was awarded the South African Government Certification of Competency (GCC) in Coal Mine Management in July 2003, by the Department of Mineral Resources. Following his progression - working as a Planning engineer for Rand Mines to Mine Overseer from 1991 to 1993, Mr Steenkamp subsequently worked in managerial roles for major producers, Delmas and Optimum Collieries until December 1999. From January 2000 to March 2008 Mr Steenkamp worked as a Director who specialised in marketing and executing contracts between various coal mining companies and Grinaker-LTA Mining Contracting, a diversified construction and engineering group anchored in South Africa and focused on selected infrastructure, energy and mining opportunities.

In his role at Grinaker-LTA Mining Contracting, Mr. Steenkamp transformed the profile of the company from very little involvement in coal mining to one which has made Grinaker-LTA Mining Contracting one of the largest and most respected Coal Mining Contracting companies in South Africa. Following Mr Steenkamp's role at Grinaker-LTA, he set up his own business in March 2008.Mr. Steenkamp's group of companies currently mine for Sentula in Komatipoort and Total Coal South Africa in the Kriel area. The latter is a reserve very typical of the Eastern Cape coalfield, where the company is mining an average seam of 1.6m.

Mr. Steenkamp will be responsible for the setting-up of the Mine Technical Services such as planning, scheduling and plant procurement, which will include the appointment of mining contracting services and related in house mining services for SNR.
