Xaar PLC17 July 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 17 July 2007 Xaar plc APPOINTMENT OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR Xaar plc ("Xaar" or "the Company"), the inkjet printing technology groupheadquartered in Cambridge, is pleased to announce that Mr Ramon Borrell hasbeen appointed Research & Development Director and a Director of the Companywith effect from 27 August 2007. Steve Temple, currently Technical Director,will be stepping down from the board and from full time employment with thecompany at the end of September but will continue to advise Xaar as a consultantand in particular will work with Mr Borrell over the balance of this year toensure a smooth hand-over. Ramon Borrell, aged 43, is a Spanish citizen. He will be joining Xaar fromHewlett-Packard ("HP") where he has worked since 1994. Most recently he has beenSenior New Product Development Manager within HP's Large Format PrintingDivision which develops large format inkjet printing machines for saleworld-wide. Immediately prior to that appointment, Ramon was Director ofTechnology Strategy and R&D Chief Product Architect for the same HP division. Heis a Member of the Imaging Science and Technology Society where he was electedas Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Directors in 2006. Steve Temple has been with Xaar since its inception in 1990 and has been theprincipal architect of its world-leading inkjet technology. Under his technologyleadership, Xaar has registered more than 90 patents. More recently he hasfocused his attention on establishing a technology roadmap to enable Xaar towiden its range of potential markets, and is the inventor of Xaar's uniquePlatform 3 product which was launched earlier this year.
