Appointment of Director of Operations for Afren Côte d'Ivoire
London, 2 October 2008 - Afren plc ("Afren" or the "Company") announces that Jack M. McFarland has been appointed as Director of Operations for Afren Côte d'Ivoire. Mr McFarland will be responsible for the Company's oil and gas operational activities in Côte d'Ivoire, including optimising day-to-day production levels; controlling field capital and operational budgets; and managing the allocation of resources to meet the priorities of the business. Mr McFarland has over 30 years of technical and managerial experience, both in Côte d'Ivoire and other African locations with companies including Ocean Energy, UMC, Ensource Inc. and Amoco. His background covers a wide variety of reservoir, operations and production engineering projects. While Country Manager with Ocean Energy in Côte d'Ivoire, he was responsible for the initial discovery and early development of Block CI-11. Mr McFarland will report to Shahid Ullah, Chief Operating Officer.
