Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Nyota Minerals Limited (ASX/AIM: NYO), the gold exploration and development company in East Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Norman Ling as Non-Executive Director.

The appointment of Mr Ling is effective immediately. Mr Ling (age 59) has held a series of appointments at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office ("FCO") in a career spanning more than 30 years. Mr Ling's last post was as British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti and the African Union from 2008 to 2011, when he retired from government service.  

Welcoming Mr Ling, Chairman Neil Maclachlan said, "Mr Ling brings to Nyota a wealth of diplomatic and relevant regional experience, most recently in East Africa and Ethiopia. This should serve Nyota well in building on its good working relationship with the Ethiopian government and in moving towards full-scale development of the Tulu Kapi mine. We are very pleased to have secured the services of someone with the extensive knowledge of Ethiopia and the personal standing of Mr Ling and thus reinforce the existing skills and experience of the Nyota board."

Mr Ling will join Nyota's remuneration committee.

As part of Mr Ling's incentive package to join Nyota the Company has today issued to him 1,200,000 options in two tranches; Tranche A comprising 750,000 options and Tranche B comprising 450,000 options (together, the "Options"). The Options are exercisable at GBP0.08 on or before 20 June 2016 and are subject to continuity of employment vesting conditions. The Options will vest in three equal tranches on 21 June 2013, 21 June 2014 and 21 June 2015.

Mr Ling has held no directorships within the past five years.
