Appointment of Non-Executive Deputy Chairman
Solid State plc (AIM: SOLI), the specialist value added component supplier and design-in manufacturer of computing, power, and communications products, today announces that the Board has been strengthened by the appointment of Victor Chavez CBE as Non-Executive Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 January 2026.
Victor has over 35 years of experience in the defence, aerospace, and security sectors. He was Chief Executive Officer at Thales UK for almost a decade, where he led major defence and security programmes across the UK and allied nations. Throughout his career in industry, Victor has worked at the highest levels of government and the UK Ministry of Defence on matters of defence industrial strategy, capability management, technology, and acquisition.
He now undertakes a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles in the defence, security, and technology sectors. Victor has served as a board member of Engineering UK, and as President of TechUK. In recognition of his services to defence and security for both the UK and France, Victor was appointed a CBE in 2015 and a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in 2020. Victor holds an MSc in Satellite Engineering and Telecommunications and received an Honorary Doctorate from Cranfield University in 2019.
