Restaurant Group PLC24 January 2007 THE RESTAURANT GROUP PLC("TRG" or "the Company") Appointment of non-executive Director The Restaurant Group plc today announces the appointment of David Richardson toits Board as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 February 2007. He willalso be a member of the Remuneration, Audit and Nomination Committees. David (55), having retired as Whitbread's Finance Director in 2005, is currentlya non-executive director of Serco Group plc, Dairy Crest plc, Tomkins plc andForth Ports plc. He was also until recently a non-executive director of De VereGroup plc and took on the Chairman's role to consider a number of bid approachesand its ultimate highly successful sale to AHG in the summer of 2006. David spent a considerable part of his career at Whitbread (he joined in 1983)in various roles including Finance Director of their Inns Division and followingthat the Restaurant Division. Between 1993 and 2001 he was Strategic PlanningDirector for the Group and joined the Board in May 1996. He was appointedFinance Director in March 2001. There are no other matters relating to this appointment that are required to bedisclosed under Paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules.
