Appointment of new Chairman
The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Peter Fellner as Chairman of Consort Medical as of May 1 2009. Peter will succeed John Robinson who has been Chairman for more than five years.
Peter Fellner was appointed a non-executive director of Consort Medical in November 2005 and is currently the senior independent director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee. He becomes Deputy Chairman as at today's date.
Dr Fellner is Chairman of Vernalis PLC and Astex Therapeutics Ltd, and a non-executive director of UCB S.A., QinetiQ Group plc and Evotec AG. He also chaired Acambis plc from 2006 to September 2008, until its acquisition by Sanofi Aventis for £280 million.
Prior to this Peter served as Chief Executive Officer of Celltech Group PLC from 1990 to 2003 and as Chairman from 2003 until its acquisition for £1.53 billion in 2004. Dr Fellner joined Celltech from Roche UK, where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 1986 to 1990.
