Appointment of new Chairman of Friends Provident Holdings (UK) Limited

Resolution Limited (Resolution) is pleased to announce that Sir Malcolm Williamson has been appointed as Chairman of Friends Provident Holdings (UK) Limited (FPH).

Sir Malcolm was appointed as a non-executive director of FPH following Resolution's acquisition of Friends Provident in November 2009 and was its Acting Chairman during Sir Mervyn Pedelty's recent illness.

Sir Malcolm has considerable experience across the financial services industry. He is currently a non-executive director of National Australia Bank Limited, Chairman of National Australia Group Europe Limited, Clydesdale Bank plc and Signet Jewelers Limited. He also chairs Cass Business School's Strategy and Development Board, the Board of Trustees for the Prince's Youth Business International and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the International Business Leaders Forum.

Previously, Sir Malcolm was Chairman of CDC Group plc and Britannic Group plc (and subsequently Deputy Chairman of Resolution plc). He was formerly the President and Chief Executive of Visa International Inc, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered plc and a non-executive director of National Grid Group plc, G4S plc and JPMorgan Cazenove Holdings.

The Board of FPH, which is the main UK holding company of the Friends Provident group, now consists of:

Nick Lyons and Derek Ross joined the Board as independent non-executives with effect from 1 February 2010.
