Dixons Retail Appoints Managing Director, Northern Europe

 

Dixons Retail plc, Europe's leading specialist multi-channel electrical retailer and services company, today announces the appointment of Jaan Ivar Semlitsh as Managing Director, Northern Europe. Jaan is currently CEO of REMA Industrier AS, which is part of one of Scandinavia's largest supermarket chains. His first day will be on 3rd January 2013.

 

Dixons Retail's Northern European operation, Elkjøp, is the leading specialist electrical retailer across the Nordics, with over 300 stores and nearly 9,000 employees in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Dixons Retail's Electroworld business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is managed alongside the Nordic operations to benefit from the successful business model and scale. Last year, Elkjøp reported sales of £2.628bn and in the first quarter of the new financial year sales were up 13%.

Jaan Ivar Semlitsch Biography

Jaan started his career at McKinsey & Co, before being appointed Managing Director of specialist electrical retailer Expert Denmark AS. Jaan went on to become COO of Statoil ASA, a group of petrol station and convenience store outlets in Northern Europe in 2004 and CO of Plantasien ASA, Scandinavia's largest garden centre chain in 2007. Jaan moved to REMA Industrier AS in 2009 in his current role as CEO.
