Appointment of John Abbott as Downstream Director

ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC APPOINTMENT OF JOHN ABBOTT AS DOWNSTREAM DIRECTOR The Hague, September 12, 2013. Royal Dutch Shell plc (the `Company') todayannounces the appointment of John Abbott as Downstream Director with effectfrom October 1, 2013. In his new role, Mr Abbott will become a member of theCompany's Executive Committee and will take over from Ben van Beurden who, aspreviously announced, becomes Chief Executive Officer with effect from January1, 2014. Notes for Editors John is a British national and currently Executive Vice PresidentManufacturing, responsible for some 30 oil refineries and petrochemicals plantsworld-wide. He joined Shell in 1981, and has held a variety of managementpositions in refining, chemicals and upstream heavy oil, working in the UnitedKingdom, Singapore, Thailand, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States.John graduated from Birmingham University, UK in 1981 with a degree in ChemicalEngineering. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers as well as aChartered Engineer and Chartered Scientist. John is married with two children.
